The Sperry Chalet, one of two remaining chalets within Glacier National Park’s high country, was heavily damaged by a wildfire in 2017. The interior log structures were burned completely, and only the four perimeter stone masonry walls and the two interior stone chimneys survived. The article describes the investigation, design, and construction challenges faced by the design team due to the remote site location and short construction timeline. Atkinson-Noland & Associates was engaged by the design team to evaluate the existing masonry and provided expertise regarding its condition, characteristics, and repair.
